BSD Infrastructure
Stewardship of core BSD ecosystem components on behalf of the operational and research communities that depend upon them.
PGSDF is a public-interest body convened to steward open systems infrastructure for environmental research, scientific computing, and the communities that depend upon it — on a horizon longer than any single project, vendor, or grant cycle.
The Foundation was convened on that recognition. PGSDF exists to hold such infrastructure in stewardship on behalf of the communities that depend upon it, and to maintain it on a horizon longer than any single project, vendor, or grant cycle.

Tools and frameworks for scientific computing and data analysis, held openly and maintained in the public interest.
Custody and stewardship of systems for the acquisition, processing, and publication of environmental data.
Command-line tools and libraries for daily engineering work, released openly and maintained for the long term.
A multimedia substrate for FreeBSD currently in active development. UTF spans the keyboard input path, HiDPI-aware terminal rendering, and kernel-level input infrastructure, organised around explicit guarantees rather than performance heuristics.
The Foundation is in its founding year. The documents below describe how PGSDF is constituted, how it makes decisions, and how that constitution will evolve as the organisation matures. Drafts are open to comment.
